wood - Mai Daeng, red- or ironwood

The illustrations are examples. The pieces are very variable in appearance. Mai-Daeng wood is a very stable support of very long durability, and very well suited for mounting medium-sized orchids. The wood can serve as a support for well over 10 years.

• Mai-Daeng is the Thai name for this redwood. The botanical name is Xylia xylocarpa
• in Myanmar and Vietnam it is also called ironwood.
• the sap is used for wound healing in elephants.
• is used for reforestation of eroded areas due to its robustness.
