Etymology:

dyer = Sir William Turner Thiselton-Dyer, KCMG (* 28 July 1843 in Westminster, London; † 23 December 1928 in Witcombe, Gloucestershire) was an English botanist. He was the third director of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

Habitat:

epiphytic in montane rainforests, growing hanging on the underside of branches at altitudes of 950 to 1800 metres

Notes:

Lycaste dyeriana grows hanging inverted, the easiest way is to make a small hole in the bottom of the pot and insert the plant with the leaves facing downwards.
