Etymology:

purupuratus = purple coloured

Propagation: seed
Origin: Brazil
Habitat:

epiphytic high in the canopy of wooded hillsides, also lithophytic exposed on rocks

Notes:

Numerous color variations have been found of the 'Queen of Orchids', from snow-white to gray, pale pink to cherry red. Due to numerous crossings, the diversity of Laelia purpurata is almost infinite. In Brazil there are pure Laelia purpurata societies, which present a hundred different flowering plants at exhibitions.
The fragrant flowers appear in Europe between the end of May and the beginning of July and present their splendor up to 4 weeks
