Etymology:

lindenii = Jean Jules LINDEN (12 February 1817,[1] in Luxembourg – 12 January 1898, in Brussels) was a Belgian botanist, explorer, horticulturist and businessman. He specialised in orchids, which he wrote a number of books about.

terrestrial (often growing together with Pleurothallis) on roadsides at altitudes from 1200 to 2850 meters

Notes:

the species is somewhat smaller than Phragmipedium caudatum. Grows in grassy areas, the lip is also transformed into a petal. The drooping petals allow insects to climb up them for pollination of the flower.
