Notes: | Cattleya deckeri is a very controversial species, so it is often seen as a synonym of Cattleya skinneri, it is also classified as a natural hybrid. In 1998 Robert L. DRESSLER investigated the status of Cattleya deckeri. According to his findings, its first description by Klotzsch in 1855 was based on a plant from a collection of Cattleya x guatemalensis collected by EHRENBERG in Guatemala or Mexico. The herbarium was kept in the DECKER collection in Berlin! According to his investigations the name Cattleya deckeri would be invalid, the correct name should be Cattleya patinii. Since the Cattleya with the racemose inflorescences are occasionally listed as Guarianthe, this genus name is also possible. |
