Etymology:

echo = because of the repeated flowers per shoot. Echo is a nymph of the Greek mythological world: Echo entertained Zeus' wife Hera by telling stories so that Zeus had time for amorous adventures. When Hera discovered this plot, she deprived Echo of her speech as punishment and left her only the ability to repeat the last words addressed to her.

epiphytic in the district of Antiquoia, Colombia, in humid forests at altitudes from 1800 to 2000m.
