The illustrations are examples. This natural product is very variable in appearance. This wood (bot. Pinus merkusii) is very hard and a stable support of long durability. Therefore, it is well suited for tying up medium to large orchids. Pinus merkusii belongs to the trees that orchids like to colonize even in nature.

• the Merkus pine (bot.: Pinus merkusii) is used in Indonesia as construction timber and for turpentine extraction, and is replanted in many plantations.
• the wood is light but very robust
• the pieces of size S are 6-12cm wide, and 8-20cm long. The other sizes are on average 10-15cm wide and 20-30cm long, and of varying thickness.
• the wood was sterilized in Indonesia over 30min. at 80°C, in Germany then again about 130°C for about 1min. The wood is free from harmful insects or fungi.
