Etymology: | lutheri = Harry E. Luther (1952 – October 17, 2012) was an American botanist, having conducted extensive botanical expeditions to USA (Florida), Mexico, Panama, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil Luther served on the staff of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, for 32 years. In 2010, he accepted a position as Assistant Director/Horticulture at Singapore's famed Gardens by the Bay.

Habitat: | The species was first found by Kress & Luther on June 26, 1991. Tom Croat gives later altitudes of 1000-1500m for the locations, preferably this species grows primarily terrestrial in freshly cut forests, epiphytic occurrence is observed rather rarely. |
Notes: | With its long, drooping, narrow leaves that taper off towards the tip into thin, round slender ends, Anthurium lutheri is a very striking and attractive species. Anthurium lutheri cf. Ecuagenera differs from the normal form only by a slight marking on the leaves. |
