Product information "Anthurium cubense"
Name: Anthurium cubense, Engl. 1898
Synonyms:

unknown

Etymology:

cubense = occuring in Cuba

Propagation: divisions
Origin: Central America, Caribbean
Habitat:

epiphytic and/or terrestrial, in dry places in warm-humid forests in exposed places at altitudes from 0-600m.

Notes:

Besides the striking leaf veins, the spadix of Anthurium cubense is particularly striking. It can grow 15-20cm long, and turns dark purple-red as it matures. The fruits are small, bright red berries about >5mm in size. This may indicate dispersal via birds; bright coloration usually attracts feathered friends, who then spread the seeds via their digestion. How the propagation really takes place, however, is not yet clear.
