Notes:

The valid name of this species has long caused confusion. In 1820, William Roxburgh (Asia) published a description of Aerides multiflora. In 1882 João Barbosa Rodrigues (South America) published a description of a completely different plant under the name Epidendrum geniculatum.
The confusion begins eight years later, when in 1890,Joseph Dalton Hooker published a description of an orchid (now recognised as Aerides multiflora Roxb.) under the name Epidendrum geniculatum. Thus Epidendrum geniculatum Barb.Rodr. is a very different plant from Epidendrum geniculatum Hook.f., the valid name remains in any case Aerides multiflora.
