Etymology:

pulcherrima = schön, hübsch, ansehnlich
In Thailand = Ya Dawk Hin - Ma Wing
In China = Wu Chun Lan

Propagation: seed
Origin: Südostasien
Habitat:

epiphytic and lithophytic in lowland forests along canyons of montane streams and rivers on rocks and sandy soils, often growing in dense clumps, from sea level to 600m

Notes:

Doritis pulcherrima is often also listed as Phalaenopsis, but differs in the absence of the callus and the number of pollinia, and the differently shaped mentum.
Due to the wide distribution, numerous, different local types are known, also the shape is very different due to the petal position and size. The colour range extends from pale pink to dark reddish purple. White and blue flowers as well as aquinii forms (splashed petals) are also known.
