in Philippines = Waling Waling

Propagation: seed
Origin: Philippines
Habitat:

epiphytic on trees at altitudes from sea level to 500 meters, usually near the sea, often hanging over the water, and fully exposed to the sun

Notes:

Discoverer of this species in 1880 is the plant hunter Carl Roebelin (also Roebelen), who discovered this species in at the foot of Mount Apo during a collecting trip for the nursery SANDER. In 1882 the plant was described as Vanda sanderiana. Due to the lack of a spur on the back of the labellum, it was transferred to the genus Euanthe in 1914, a classification that hardly holds today.
Vanda sanderiana is considered the queen of Philippine orchids and has been the country's national flower since 2013.
