Propagation: seed
Origin: Mexico
Habitat:

This orchid is ocures in the mountain forests of the states of Guerrero, Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacán and Oaxaca. It is found growing epiphytically at an altitude of 1500-2500 m. They are found in mixed pine-oak forests on the slopes facing the Pacific Ocean, very close to the ocean.

Notes:

The genus Rossioglossum was named in honor of George Barker (1776-1845) of Springfield, England, who imported a plant from Mexico.  Barker was a pioneer in the importation of orchids, especially from Mexico. John Ross (? -?), who collected orchids in Mexico between 1837 and 1840, sent many plants to Barker, including several Odontoglossum species, for which Schlechter proposed the name Rossioglossum in his honor in 1916. it took until 1976, however, for Garay and Kennedy to formally publish Rossioglossum as a new genus.
