selerianus = Eduard Georg Seler (* 5 December 1849 in Crossen an der Oder, province of Brandenburg; † 23 November 1922 in Berlin) was a German Old Americanist and Old Mexicanist.

Habitat:

Tillandsia seleriana grows epiphytically on pine and oak trees in areas with low rainfall, mostly towards the Pacific coast at an altitude of 270-2100m.

Notes:

This species is a so-called myrmecophyte, in its natural environment, the onion-like base of the plant serves as a shelter for tropical ants. In return, the ants protect the Tillandsia seleriana and provide it with important nutrients.
