Synonyms:

Etymology:

eminens = meaning projecting or eminent in reference to its large size.

Propagation: divisions
Origin: Bolivia, Brazil North, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Venezuela
Habitat:

semi-shaded to shaded, in warm, slightly moist locations in northern South America, both in the Andes and along the Amazon, at elevations from sea level to 1600m.

Notes:

spadix may be purple, brown, green, or cream; berries purple. The older the plants become, the more leaves appear at the petiole end.
