Notes:

N.E. Brown in The Gardeners' Chronicle, November 26, 1904:
"This fine and very distinct species has been in cultivation in Kew since 1877, but has never been described. It was received in that year from J. Linden of Brussels, so is probably one of the plants introduced by his firm in Columbia. In habit it is something like A. Veitchii, the long bright green leaves being pendulous from their petioles as in that species, but the venation is totally different."

The mashed, cooked leaves are used in a water bath by the Siona Indians (Putumayo, Colombia) to relieve bone aches and rheumatism.
