Product information "Adelonema wallisii (syn.Homalomena wallisii)"
Name: Adelonema wallisii, (Regel) S.Y.Wong & Croat 2016
Synonyms:

Curmeria wallisii, (Regel) Mast. 1877
Homalomena wallisii
, Regel 1877

Etymology:

wallisii = Gustav Wallis (*1830 in Lüneburg - †1878 in Cuenca, Ecuador) was a German botanist and collector who brought over 1000 new species to Europe.

Propagation: meristem
Origin: Colombia
Habitat:

Probably terrestrial. Apart from the country of origin, Colombia, no information can be found about the original locations.

Notes:

Adelonema wallisii is mostly still offered as Homalomena wallisii. Regel's description under this name Homalomena wallisii, Regel was already corrected to Curmeria wallisii by Maxwell Masters in the same year. The Malaysian S.Y. Wong and Tom Croat transferred it to Adelonema in 2016, this recombination is widely accepted in botany.
The species was found by Gustav Wallis on his trip to Colombia, sent to England and brought to market by William Bull. The species is best suited as a houseplant with its very beautifully coloured, sturdy leaves and by its compact growth.
