Propagation: | division |
Origin: | Ekuador |
Habitat: | Philodendron mamei grows terrestrially creeping on the eastern slopes of the Andes at elevations of 700-1800m in cutover of primary forests, sometimes on stream banks in full shade and in cleared primary forests. |
Notes: | Philodendron mamei has beautifully colored leaves that turn from green to gray with age - as with many plants of the genus Philodendron - without losing their appeal. Young plants have longer internodes, in older plants the internodes become shorter again, thus the plants are more compact and easier to cultivate. |
