Name: | Ludochilus Dominyi |
Propagation: | from seed |
Parents: | Anoectochilus roxburghii × Ludisia discolor |
Breeder: | Veitch |
RHS Registration: | Veitch 1865 |
Notes: | One of the very first orchid hybrids ever, probably crossed by John Dominy, the head gardener at the Veitch & Sons nursery. Since in vitro propagation was not yet known in the 19th century, seeds were sown on the plant parts or on the original imported soil. The success was of course moderate, therefore the success of a successful hybrid is to be valued all the higher. |
