Synonyms:

Cattleya labiata var. schroderae, Sander 1888
Cattleya trianaei var. schroederae, Rchb.f 1887

Etymology:

schroederae = Baron Sir John Henry William Schröder, 1st Baronet CVO (actually Johann Heinrich Wilhelm, from 1868: Baron von Schröder, * 13 February 1825 in Hamburg; † 20 April 1910 in Sidmouth, East Devon) was a German-British merchant, private banker, art collector and patron. Schröder laid out a garden park around The Dell and promoted the cultivation of orchids. In 1888, a Colombian Cattleya species was named Cattleya schroderae in honour of his wife by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach.

Propagation: seed
Origin: Colombia
Habitat:

epiphytic, occasionally also lithophytic, exposed, no exact details

Notes:

Cattleya schroederae, Cattleya mossiae and Cattleya trianae are called Cattleya de Pascua or the Easter Cattleya in Colombia. Cattleya schroederae is easy to identify and distinguish: the flowers are much larger than those of the other two species, the lip is distinctly curled at the front and the throat is bright orange. In addition, Cattleya schroederae is said to be more fragrant.
