Habitat: | terrestrial creeping, rarely hemiepiphytic, at altitudes of 100-1500m, in warm humid tropical forest in the eastern Andes to the Amazon region. The original plant was collected by Richard Evans Schultes on the banks of the Loretoyacu River at an altitude of about 100m in March 1946 and later described by Jesus Medardo Ibrodo. |
Notes: | Anthurium polyschistum is one of the smallest species of its section (Schizoplacium), each of the numerous leaflets being less than 15 cm long. It is sometimes climbing, but more often creeping on the ground. It is more common in eastern Ecuador, but this type is rarely fertile. |
