Etymology:

bernalii = Rodrigo Bernal González (born June 6, 1959 in Medellín, Colombia) is a Colombian botanist who specializes in the palm family. Bernal was a faculty member at the Institute of Natural Sciences of the National University of Colombia until 2007. He received his Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of Aarhus, Denmark. He was general curator of the National Colombian Herbarium (1986-1987) and editor of the scientific journal Caldasia (1989-1991, 1997-1999).

Habitat:

Anthurium bernalii has a very beautiful, highly textured leaf surface, the leaves are hard texture. This species copes with low humidity during the day, the long, narrow leaves are inversely pear-shaped and stand on sturdy, long petioles.

Notes:

Anthurium wendlingeri is a very attractive species, the leaves are long, drooping with leathery pattern. The spiral spadix is particularly striking and unusual. The middle leaf vein, which normally gives shape and stability to the leaf on the underside, is on the upper side of the leaf in this species.
