Etymology:

warszewiczii = Józef Warszewicz Ritter von Rawicz (Lithuanian: 'Juozapas Varševičius')(8. September? 1812 in Vilnius, Lithuania - 29 December 1866, Cracow, Poland) was an important botanist, plant and animal collector, and biologist.

Propagation: division
Origin: Mexico, Guatemala, Panama
Habitat:

Philodendron warscewiczii grows mostly llithophytic on exposed rocky areas in full sun at altitudes up to 1000m. It prefers dry forests, times of prolonged drought it survives as a deciduous plant without permanent damage.
Philodendron warszewiczii grows epiphytically, rarely llithophytically, in warm, moist, sparse forests in the trees at exposed sites.

Notes:

The name, which is not easy to spell, has also caused much confusion in botany. Philodendron warscewiczii has been found exclusively in dry areas of Mexico, whereas for Philodendron warszewiczii warm, humid, tropical areas in Panama and Guatemala are given as occurrences.
At present there is no reason to treat these species as distinct, the plants are very similar even in the herbarium record. A longer observation over several years and an exact analysis of the flowers would be interesting. The species found in Mexico is said to bear white flowers, while the species found further south produces a purple spatha for flowering.
While today the spelling Warszewicz is regarded as the sole and correct one, Warscewicz is found again and again in old publications.
