Etymology:

schlimii = Louis Joseph Schlim (1819 - 1863), Belgian plant collector, collected with Jean Jules Linden and Nicolas Funck in South and Central America (Venezuela) from 1841 - 52, was a (half) brother of Jean Jules Linden, Nicolas Funck was Jean Jules Linden's brother-in-law.

Habitat:

Phragmipedium schlimii grows terrestrially or lithophytically at altitudes of 1200 to 2100 metres in areas with constant water movement, mostly along rivers, more rarely on waterfalls or rocks.

Notes:

Phragmipedium schlimii is considered slow growing in cultivation. The plants are among the smallest in the genus Phragmipedium, a leaf span over 20cm is very rare.
