anguloi = named in honour of Roberto de Angulo Blum (1954- ) prefessional architect and professor of Architecture and Natural Science at the Foundation University of Popayan, an ardent student of orchids with a special interest in taxonomy who discovered Phragmipedium anguloi in 2007.

Trade name: South American Slipper Orchid

Origin: Colombia
Habitat:

Terrestrial in the Patio Timbio valley at 1600 m altitude in the department of Cauca, where it usually grows in foliage and humus pockets on rocky ground.

Notes:

Phragmipedium anguloi is a strongly herbaceous, very large-leaved plant with small flowers (5-7cm) that are nearly whitish, only the opening of the shoe sometimes has a pink edge. It is assumed that it could be a natural hybrid, but all Phragmipedium species in question such as Phragmipedium schlimii, andreettae and manzurii grow between 180 - 500 km away from where Phragmipedium anguloi is found.
